Afsaneh Kheirani completed her MSc at the Laboratory of Ilyass Tabiai (ilylabs), where her research focused on the design and characterization of ultra-lightweight composite membranes for lighter-than-air vehicles. Her master’s thesis contributed to the VELUM project — a novel membrane architecture engineered for minimal gas leakage in aerostat envelopes while maintaining ultra-low areal mass. Her work was published in Aerospace Science and Technology (2026).
